Where We Work
Emerging Enterprises Business Development Center The Emerging Enterprises Incubator is a vision between held by two organizations that has become a reality. The Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC) with a mission to grow their businesses and build its members’ wealth, and the Housing Authority of the City of Austin which is dedicated to creating and sustaining healthy communities that promote individual responsibility, economic growth, human dignity and hope for the future have teamed to synergistically impact the greater Austin Community. By combining resources, these two dynamic organizations are creating job opportunities and self-sufficiency through the development of new or enhanced business organizations.
The Incubator, which is operated by the Economic Growth Business Incubator (EGBI), an independent 501(c)(3) organization, initially focuses on creating grass-root or community-based businesses by providing the basics in launching or enhancing a small business. With the assistance of similarly focused organizations like the Service Corps of Retired Execs (SCORE) and community minded volunteers, the Incubator conducts a comprehensive 8 week Business Success Program on the art of starting and running a successful business. Entrepreneurs with a vision of running their own successful business attend evening and sometimes weekend classes that cover everything from business computing to accessing capital for launching a business. After successfully concluding their free, Biz Steps program and upon launching their business, each entrepreneur has the option of working out of the Incubator office space for up to six (6) months, also at no cost.
