Sanchez, currently director of Compliance Oversight for the Housing Authority of Austin, was instrumental in founding the Housing Authority’s first subsidiary corporation in 2000, bringing over 70 new jobs to Austin. She was responsible for developing the agency from the ground up—developing all policies and procedures, hiring and training over 50 employees, and monitoring the program’s regulatory compliance. Sanchez is responsible for auditing and evaluating all programs and making recommendations on program re-engineering to ensure efficiency, integrity, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Her most recent accomplishment has been co-founding the agency’s consulting arm, which signed its first client in January
Sanchez’s entrepreneurial spirit was also instrumental in creating a business development resource center, Emerging Enterprises (EE). EE is located in East Austin and provides business development classes for start up businesses who need assistance with writing business and marketing plans or who need business counseling. Sanchez brokered a three-tiered partnership between her employer, the Austin Housing Authority (HACA), the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GAHCC), and the Economic Growth Business Incubator (EGBI). HACA provides the space and funding for operations, while GAHCC and EGBI operate the center.
